==Annotation==

This small article deals with the first stanza of Sonatorrek. The author proposes that Egil expresses the pain which impairs his artistic muse in different ways in different parts of the stanza. In the second part of the stanza, he moves from the physical inhibition to the psychic pain he experiences. De Vries argues that the poet continues on the same path in the second stanza of the poem.

Þessi stutta grein fjallar um upphafsvísu Sonatorreks. Höfundur telur að Egill tjái þjáninguna sem heftir sköpunargáfu hans á ólíkan hátt í vísuhelmingunum tveimur. Í seinni helmingnum færi hann sig frá líkamlegum hömlum til sálarangistarinnar sem þjáir hann. De Vries heldur því fram að skáldið haldi uppteknum hætti í næstu vísu.
