==Annotation== 
This articles aims at determining the moral significance of the burning in ''Njáls saga''. A comparison with the similar episode in ''Hænsa-Þóris saga'' shows that the ethical characterization of the burning's actors is far from being univocal: while Hænsa-Þórir is a typically evil man, and Blund-Ketill an innocent (or at least righteous) victim, Flosi accepts the weight of his guilt, and the sons of Njáll expiate or atone for the unjustified killing of Höskuldr. This interpretation sheds light on how the saga problematizes the Christian ethos and contextualizes the burning within the process of social deterioration at work throughout the narrative.
