	~~Texta vantar~~		Í þessari grein er rætt um ástæðurnar fyrir því að Egill Skallagrímsson orti ekki erfikvæði tileinkað Ásgerði, konu sinni, þegar hún dó. Falk heldur því fram að Egill hefði örugglega getað tjáð sorg sína miðað við að hann orti Sonatorrek tileinkað sonum hans og að honum þótti þar að auki mjög vænt um Ásgerði. Nokkur dæmi eru tekin úr ýmsum sögum til að lýsa því að það var ætlast til þess að ekklar giftu sig aftur fljótlega án þess að syrgja. Höfundurinn dregur einnig ályktun af því að forníslensku skorti orð fyrir ekkjumann, þó að höfundar sagnanna væru meðvitaðir um merkingu þess að verða ekkill. Niðurstaðan er þá sú að Egill Skallagrímsson orti ekki kvæði tileinkað Ásgerði vegna þess að samkvæmt forníslenskri skáldskaparfræði var missir eiginkonu ekki talinn óbætanlegur: *Konutorrek var af þeim sökum óhugsanlegt. Þar af leiðandi tjáði Egill sorg sína með því að haga sér eins og herskár ekkill í stað þess að yrkja kvæði.
