			The article describes Snorri Sturluson’s use of geographical descriptions and topographic information as an important part of his narrative style. Jakobsen claims that Snorri’s mastery of the narrative is shown in the way that he always (and only) includes the facts that are exactly necessary for the understanding of the following events. As an example Jakobsen, who assumes that Snorri is the author of Egil’s saga, shows how he uses the description of Finnmark as an integrated part of the plot by putting it in the middle of the description of Thorolf Kveldulfson’s second (of three) voyages to the Finnmark.
