The relationship between these, Vogt states, is diametric. The conclusion drawn from his investigation is threefold: Firstly, that in Höfuðlausn Egill does not seem to position Eiriks’s deeds above that of his men, while simultaneously openly praising his own diction. Secondly, that the narrative describing Gunnhild in York was from the outset inspired by folktale motifs, since her use of magic there is substantial for the saga’s development. Thirdly, he suggests that the author of Höfuðlausn invented a Christian-chivalric motif relating to Arinbjorn to solve any contradictions between Höfuðlausn, Arinbjarnarkviða and stanza 36.<br /> <br /> ==Lýsing==<br /> <br /> Greinin fjallar einkum um kvæðin Höfuðlausn og Arinbjarnarkviðu og tengsl þeirra, auk 36. vísu sögunnar.
