Annotation
The toponym Vínheiður is probably not a translation of Wendun(e) as Finnur Jónsson proposes in his 1888 edition of Egils saga. The name may, however, be derived from Old English Uinuaed.
Lýsing
Vínheiði er sennilega ekki þýðing á Wendun(e) eins og Finnur Jónsson heldur fram í útgáfu sinni á Egils sögu (1888). Fornenska örnefnið Uinuaed er að finna miklu nær Vínheiði en Wendun(e), það er heiti á á og hefur hugsanlega einnig náð yfir landið við ána.
