Annotation
On the Icelandic phenomenon of poets designated as poeta potens (ákvæðaskáld or kraftaskáld). Almqvist gives a number of examples of such poets but mentions Egil Skallagrimsson only in passing, saying that Egil’s ákvæðavísur are in many ways different from those composed more recently.
Lýsing
Þótt engin dæmi um orðin kraftaskáld og ákvæðaskáld finnist á íslensku fyrir árið 1830 er ákvæðaskáldið gamalt fyrirbæri. Almqvist nefnir dæmi um ákvæðaskáld úr Íslandssögunni, m.a. Egil Skallagrímsson, og segir að ákvæðavísur Egils séu „að mörgu leyti annars eðlis en kraftaskáldavísur seinni alda“ (s. 91).
