The article looks at connections between Snorra Edda and Egils saga, as well as potential influences on Snorri's writing. Snorri is presumed to be the author og Egils saga. The author considers the majority of the skaldic poetry in the saga to be not much older than the saga itself and thus potentially composed by Snorri. He considers Háttatal to be Snorri's first known major contribution to literature, and Egils saga to be Snorri's last work. The themes in Háttatal are the same as in many of the poems attributed to Egil, although they are also known from several other skaldic poems. The main difference between Háttatal and Egil's poems is that the former shows stricter adherence to the metre.

Í greininni eru skoðuð tengsl Snorra Eddu og Egils sögu en einnig mögulegir áhrifavaldar Snorra. Gengið er út frá því að Snorri sé höfundur Egils sögu. Baldur telur að bróðurparturinn af skáldskap sögunnar sé ekki mikið eldri en sagan sjálf og gæti hafa verið saminn af Snorra. Háttatal segir Baldur vera fyrsta stóra þekkta framlag Snorra til bókmenntanna en Egils saga sé hans síðasta verk Snorra. Efnið er það sama í Háttatali og í mörgum vísum sem eignaðar eru Agli en það eru þó einnig þekkt úr fleiri dróttkvæðum . Munurinn á Háttatali og vísum Egils í Eglu er að formið er háttbundnara í fyrrnefnda verkinu.
