This article looks at the 1961 rewriting of ''Njáls saga'', ''Fire in the Ice'' by Dorothy James Roberts. The four aspects that are taken into consideration by Jón Karl Helgason are Roberts‘ sense of Icelandic history, geography, narration, and audience. Through these aspects, he gives positive criticism of Roberts‘ efforts and asserts that the reading and interpretation of any saga, whether it be translated or rewritten, is determined by the individual reader and their personal experiences.
