Lýsing

Í greininni er fjallað um tengsl milli Egils sögu og skáldsögunnar sem bókmenntagreinar. Samkvæmt Torfa Tulinius sprettur Egils saga ekki af munnlegum hefðum, eins og oft er haldið fram, heldur frekar fullþroskuðum bókmenntahefðum. Horft er á þrjú sérkenni skáldsagna: a) tengslum tíma og staða í sögunni, b) raunsæiseinkennum sögunnar og c) þeim stíl sem er notaður í Egilssögu. Torfi dregur af þessum atriðum þá ályktun að Egils saga geti upp að einhverju marki talist skáldsaga.
