Annotation

In his article, Hallberg describes Egil Skallagrimsson’s exquisite skills as a poet. He analyzes stanzas of different poems and shows how Egill uses various skaldic metres and kennings to create poems that impressed both friends and enemies. Hallberg shows how some of Egil’s kennings could have a double meaning, and in this way challenge the listener’s intellect.
